'Mr-Cyril King, a medical student at the Otago University, has.obtained the B.Sc. degreo. A cablegram from Brisbane announces the death of Mr David Bowman, exLeader of the I/iibor party. A cablegram from London states that the Bishop of Birmingham ordained the Itev. R. J. Campbell, who recently resigned from the City Temple, in the parish church of Birmingham. During the afternoon tea adjournment in connection with the Carisbrook-Albion cricket match on Saturday, Mr A, C. Martin, on behalf of members of the Carisbrook team, presented Mr H. C. Watson with a case of pipes in view of his early departure for Christchurch, where he will act as coach for the Christ College boys. Mr Martin referred to the good service Mr Watson had rendered the Carisbrook Club during the time he had been associated with it, and expressed the opinion that he would be missed by the nub. He wished him success and prosperity in his new sphere. Mr Siedeberg supplemented Mr Martin's remarks, and referred to the excellent wickets that had been prepared by Mr Watson at Carisbrook. Cheers were given for Mr Watson, who suitably acknowledged the compliment paid him. Lieut.-col. Clennell Fenwick, M.Z.M.C.. of Christchurch, who left Xew Zealand with the main body of the Expeditionavv Force as Deputy "Assistant .Director of Medical Services, arrives at Wellington to-day by the Riverina from Sydney. H-? is on a short furlough from Egypt. " Following the resignation oi the Bev. F. Dunnage from the cure of Hals-well and Sproydou, the appointment has bean offered to the Rev. C. C. Oldham, vicar of Waihoa, South Canterbury, and has been aociptcd by him (writes our Christchurch correspondent). Mr Oldham was ordained deacon in 1899, and priest in 1900 in Pnnedin, and was curate" of Dunstnn until 1902, aoid was then vicar of Tapanui until 1904, since which t-irn? he has been at Waihoa, where his ministrations were much appreciated. Mr Duuna.ge leaves with the 10th Reinforcements as Anglican chaplain. Staff Sergeant-major Rudd, who was lately transferred (temporarily) to the tamp at Awapuni, Palmersfcon North, has Received instructions that ho will be stationed thero until after the war. An Auckland message announces the death of Dr 0. G. Watson, aged 77. By last mail word was received that Mrs Joseph Gould, of 45 Cadogan place, London, S.W., has presented two beds to Mount Felix Hospital for New Zealanders, Walton-on-Thames, naming -one in memory of Mr Joseph Gould, and the other in memory of the Rev. C. S. Bowden, formerly vicar of St. Mary's, Mornington. Dunedin. A London cable states that Mr P. F Warner, the Middlesex cricketer, whose health was .recently reported precarious- is recovering, and an operation \s now deemed unnecessary. Mr Allan Sawell has received notice that ho has passed the second section of the B.A. degree. Private Fredk. Beidy, of the New Zealand (Otago) Forces, M.nin Expeditionary body, .was drowned in Melcombc Reefs (VVcrvmoabh) Harbor last month. The funeral was attended by full military honors, the cortege being headed by the Australians' band and by the firing party and buglers.. The coffin was covered by the Union Jack, and a. lareo number of officers and men followed." The band played funeral marches en route.
