IN CENTRAL OTAGO

[Special to ths ‘ Stab.’]

CLYDE, September 16,

The -district experienced a glorious rain this morning which puts quite a different aspect on the prospects for the coming season. With the exception of the fall last week—about half au inch—there had been practically no rain for months. There is a magnificent show of bloom in all the orchards, and if there are no late frosts the fruit crop will be a very large one. CROMWELL, September 16. A heavy gale was experienced yesterday. Rain set in late at night, and con‘■tinued, with slight breaks, until after daybreak. Reports from up the valley state that there was a heavy fall in that locality. Conditions are still unsettled.
