RAVENSBOURNE BOATING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The eighteenth annual meeting of members of the Ravensbourne Boating Club was held last evening. Commodore H. E. Moller occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance of members. The Chairman moved the adopt ; on of the annual report. They had had a most successful season, perhaps the most successful for many years. In all the regattas around the harbor their boats had earned off the bulk of the prize-money. No doubt this was due to the excellent manner in which the boats were handled. The war had made great inroads on the club's membership, and it practically precluded them from doing much during the incoming season. He wished to impress upon skippers of various racing boats the necessity for seeing that all the members of their crews were able to swim. In conclusion, he paid n. tribute to the excellent work performed bv the secretary (Air P Young). Vice-commodore Barker seconded the motion, which, was carried without discussion. The balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of £47 19s 3d, was adopted. A letter was received from the secretary of the Otago Rugby Union, stating that a memorial service" would probably be held on the 19th inst., and asking the club to appoint a sub-committee to meet the union. —The matter was referred to the committee to make the necessary arrangements. The following office-bearers were appointed for the ensuing year:—Commodore, Mr H. E. Moller; viec-c-ommodorrs —Messrs J. F. Blackie, J. R. Blackie, R. Oregon-, W. Barker;, captain, Mr A. M'Pherson was at present in the Hospital seriously : .]i, and it was resolved to forward him a letter of-sympathy. The Chairman announced", amid applause, that he would donate a. brass plate to be bung in the club's rooms, on which would be inscribed a roll'of honor, containing names of all members who had gone to the front, ■ It was decided to leave the matter of club races during the incoming season to the committee.—The Chairman remarked that he did not know whether it would be advisable to hold any racing this year, while so many members were on active service. Perhaps, to promote the welfare of the club, it might be advisable to hold some club races. The matter would be dealt with later, however.
