NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE

At the Alliance Convention at- Wellington yesterday Mr C. 11. Poole, (M.P., gave an address "on ‘The American Plan of Campaign.’ He said that in the States the Prohibition workers kept before them one aim, and refused to divide their energies. An overwhelming majority of the churches were on tho side of reform. In the discussion which followed it was stated that a substantial majority of members of the now Parliament w-erc in favor ■of a reduction of tho majority required to carry prohibition, and it was expected that earlv in the coming session Bill dealing with the question would bo introduced. At the evening sitting the alliance carried resolutions that all persons officiating at electoral and licensing polls _be appointed from the ranks of the civil service, and that tho principle of polling booths being supplied with separate rolls, as in New .South Wales, bn adopted in Now Zealand.
