On the arrival of the German liner Oberhausen, it -was reported that Chiefsteward Stadlal had disappeared after leaving Fremantle. Subsequently one of the crew was arrested and placed in irons. It is alleged that he had a disagreement with the chief steward, and felled him with a beer bottle, the body afterwards being thrown overboard. As the tragedy occurred on a foreign vessel on the high seas, the police here are unable to take any action. It is proposed to send the arrestee to Germany for "trial.
