QUESTION DAY IN THE HOUSE

WELLINGTON, July 8. The Minister of Education (Hon"! Jas. Allen), replying to Mr Wilford, said he did not propose to insert an amendment in the Education Act doling with the superannuation of teachers. The Government hope to bring in «n amendment of the Superannuation Act later on in the session. The Minister of Works informed Mr Sidey that every effort would “be made to have the Lawrenoe-Boaumont line in such a- condition that it can be jianded over to the Railway Department at the end of October. The question of continuing this railway beyond Beaumont will be decided when the Public Works .Statement is brought down. The Minister of Railways informed Mr Myers that the Railway Department can-not-afford to allow children to travel free up to five years of age, and at quarter rates from five to fourteen years. The Minister of Lands stated in reply to Mr Myers that the Government hop© to establish* and maintain under the powers of the recent legislation closer supervision and subdivision of land, the laying out of roads, and the better constitution of reserves than has obtained in the past. The Town Planning Bill was now under consideration, and if time permits will be laid before' Parliament during the session.
