Replying to Sir H. Norman, the President of the Board of Trade (Mr Burns) said that the board were negotiating with the Marconi Company to supply installations op British ships under the Merchant Shipping Convention at a reasonable cost, but the board would not impose on ships the obligation to use the Marconi system.
