Second . Day.—Saturday* Proceedings commenced at the Forbury Plumpton at 1.45 p.m. Tho enclosure was in very good order. Mr H. S. Irving again judged from a midway platform, and the slipping was entrusted to Messrs K. G. Price and J. Ronald, whilst Mr H. Divers added to his manifold duties as secretary by announcing every result by megaphone—a good arrangement. The hares were a. strong lot, and they ran wiser than yesterday, so there were only nine kills. Results:
j Open Stake.—M-eteor beat Daredevil, ! then Diamond Jubilee had a bye, and in | the final Mr W. Broad's Diamond Jubilee, by Self Denial—Ace of Diamonds, beat Mr J. W; P. Vickexs's Meteor, by Starlight —Oilskin. ■Maiden Stake—ln the third round Beacon beat Sabre, Pride of tho West-beat Star of Papanui, .Southern Star beat Cvclone. Scotia Star beat Lord Raglan, Soldiers' Chorus beat Wild. Wind. In the fourth round Beacon beat Southern Star, Pride of the West beat Soldiers' Chorus, Scotia Star a bye. In the fifth round Beacon beat Scotia Star, Pride of the West a bye. In the final Messrs Canter and Jackson's Prido of the West, by Western Star—Erin's Pride, beat Mr G. Miller's Beacon, by Western Star or Bugle Call—Nine of Diamonds.- The crowd thought that Beacon won, but tho judge's points made Pride of the West the winner bv 10 to 9.
• Supplementary Stake.—First, round : Swet Neil beat Ward, M'Gluskey . beat Mks Purity, Buster, beat Juvercra, Awkward. Jim beat Wee Macgregor, Greenstone beat Kilts, Fairlake a bye. , Second round: Sweet Nell beat M'Gluskey, Awkward Jim beat Buster, Fah'lake beat Greenstone. Third round: Fairlake beat Sweet Nell, Awkward Jim a bye. Final: Mr W. G. Raine/s Fairlake, by Crcsslake —Lady Fairfield, beat Mr G. Ramsay's Awkward Jim, by Eclipse—Pretty Lass." 31 v H. Divers, the secretary, worked very energetically and earned the- thanks of all present.
