THE A.M.P.
RECORD BUSINESS. MR BEAUCHAMP ON NEW ZEALAND CONDITIONS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, April 30. The annual meeting of the Aiistralian Mutual Provident Society was held here to-day. The Chairman (Hon. A. W. Meeks), in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, said that the new business transacted during the past year exceeded that of any previous year. He emphasised ihe fact that no other office in the British Empire transacted so large an amount of ordinary business. The board would consider the question of granting bonuses to the staff. Mr Harold Beauchamp, member of the local directorate for New Zealand, stated the the New Zealand branch had broken the previous year's record in new business in both departments, owing to the exceptionally fine season and the highly remunerative rates ruling for all descriptions of produce. The Dominion's prosperity was beyond question, and with an everexpanding oversea trade opening up new markets the outlook was one of great promise. Those connected with leading institutions viewed with apprehension the high land values, but the actual results achieved in farming such lands by the adoption of scientific methods appeared to warrant the establishment of these values.
