DRAUGHTS

The. annual meeting of the St. Kilda Draughts Club was held, in the Bungalow assembly room last night, Mr R. Muir occupying the chair. The report showed that the past year had been a very successful one. Of nine matches played, the club had been successful in winning eix. whilst three were lost. The members had taken a prominent part in both the Town v. Country and City y. Suburbs matches, acquitting themselves with credit. A tournament had been played, Mr J. Shanks being the winner; while Messrs Pimley and Lawrence tied for second place, with Mr Henderson third. The balance-sheet showed that the club’s financial position was sound. The . following office-bearers were elected :—President, His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. T. M‘Far Lane); vice-presi-dents, Messrs M'Donald and Muir; secretary . and treasurer. Mr J. Shanks; committee—Messrs Pimley, Stewart, L. Edwards, L. J. Edwards, and Rasmussen ,■ captain, Mr L. J. Edwards. It was decided, to hold the meetings of the club on Monday night®, the opening meeting to be held next week, when a match President v. Vice-president would be played, and at which a good muster of town players was expected to be present. Votes of thanks to the Press, the retiring officers, and the chair closed the meeting.
