Advices have been received in Sydney stating that the American-Hawaiian fcteamship Line are seriously considering the question of extending their trade to Australia, in view of the opening of the Panama Canal. The Colonial Sugar Company, at a special meeting at Sydney yesterday, confirmed the resolution to increase, the capital from £3,000,000 to £4.000,000 by issuing 50,000 new shares of £2O each. At the tallow sales 2,236 casks were offered and 1,271 sold. Prices are unchanged. AMERICAN AUTOMOBILES. (London Times-Sydney Sun Special Cable.) • LONDON; August 20. A heavily-capitalised British company has been formed by American motor manufacturers to push tho invasion of American automobiles. Cars to the value of £3.300,000 were imported into England during tho last fiscal year, and business to the value of £5,000,000 is expected next year.
