CHURCHES OF CHRIST

ANNUAL CONFERENCE. [Per United Press Association.] GORE, March 22. The 28th Annual Conference of the Churches of Christ in the Southern district commenced at Gore yesterday. In the morning- home mission work was considered, and the following committee for the . ensuing year was elected:—Chairman, Mr P. D. M'CalInm; secretary, Mr L. C. J. Schulenburg; treasurer, Mr J. M. Routledge; committee—Messrs C. Fleming M'Donald, J. W. Stokes, W. H. Palmer, T. Cainis. Mrs H. Langford (Christchurch) was appointed correspondent to isolated members. The Bible Schools' Union Conference was held in the afternoon, and tho following officers were appointed :—President, Mr C. Fleming M'Donald: vicepresident, Mr P. D. M'Callum; secrecy jMr W- E- Powell; treasurer, Mr W. H. Palmer; committee—Mrs C F M'Donald, Miss A. Sell, Mr T. J. Melville. In the evening a tea meeting and home mission rally were. held. Foreign missions were, considered at this morning's session. The receipts for the year in three conference districts were £1,373 13s Od. Mr Wright said the progress of the new station at In gome, in South Africa, had been hindered by a serious drought. The report was adopted. The following foreign Mission Committee were elected:—Chairman, Mr J. Inglis Wright; secretary, Mr J. L. S. Wright; treasurer, Mr T. J. Melville; committee —Messrs H. Holmes, S. M'Donald, C. Miller, and Mrs T. Brown.
