ST. KILDA COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council was attended last night by the Mayor (Mr S. B. Mac Donald) and Crs Hellyer, Harris, M'Farlane, Cameron, Thompson, and Burk. Correspondence was received from Callan and Gallaway stating that the objections to the Anderson Bay bridge have been duly noted; from the Otago secretary of the Society for the Prevention o'f Cruelty to Animals regretting the decision of the council not to erect water troughs. The Water and Lighting Committee reported that they had instructed the inspector to have the Royal crescent footr path from Gourley street to Anderson Bay road raised about 4in to a width of Bft at an estimated cost of £11; that the clerk had been instructed to advertise that any person found using a hose without a permit would be prosecuted; that instructions had been issued to the inspector to have a hose tap put in at a suitable place for the purpose of watering the street in front of the hall.—Adopted. —General.— The dog tax was fixed at the usual fitmre (10s). The next meeting of the council was appointed for January 21. The Finance Committee reported that the borough accounts stood as follows: District fund account, £1,251 6s 4d (dr); special loan account, £22 13s lOd (cr) ; special loan account No. 2, £577 7s Id (cr); special loan account No. 3, £lO 3s 5d (cr); drainage and sewerage account, £713 19s Id (cr). The Mayor wished the councillors the season's compliments, thanking them for general support accorded this year and hoping for a continuance of the same during the remainder of his term. The Mayor's wishes were heartily reciprocated.
