SUGGESTIVE THERAPEUTICS.
The sixth annual conference of tho Association of Suggestive Therapeutics was held in Dunedin yesterday, Mr F. Helps presiding in the absence of the president (Mr D. Sltaw). The Chairman said it was gratify! ing to note the progress that had been made in this particular science. Nearly 30 years ago, when the president first introduced suggestive therapeutics as a ; healing art to tho public of Christchurch, he had to contend with a dead wall if apathy and ignorance, while to-day suggestive"therajpeutics was not only recognised by the general public, but actually formed an important part of medical study, and doubtless in the very near future would be included in the medical curriculum. Some six years ago tho association was formed for the purpose of furthering the study and practice and disseminating the knowledge of suggestive therapeutics in New Zealand. While it might be thought that the association had not made much progress in that time, still the fact that suggestion had become a household word throughout the Dominion, especially in the South Island, showed that its iitfluencc was surely, though quietly, at work. They had maintained the, high standard with which they set out—i.e., to keep their ranks clear of charlatanism, quackery, and humbug, and they trusted their future records would always justify' their right to this claim. Messrs -A. M. : Sideyi and W. B. ;Taverner were elected.,tc vacancies on tho council. The presidential address by Mr Shaw was lead by Mr Tavt-rner, and Mr Helps abo read a paper. ; ; ■:'".''■
