(Received August 24, at 9.15 a.m.) The State Department is preparing to send a largely increased force to Nicaragua if it is thought necessary. It is announced that the sole duty of the force is to protect the lives and properties of Americans, but interference in Nicaraguan affairs will not be permitted, nor will a military dictatorship as an outcome of the revolution be sanctioned.
