A PUBLIC DANGER.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —May I point out the very grave menace to the public health which exists alrrtbst in the heart of the City—viz., tho obsolete sanitary arrangements in connection with some of the houses. You are at liberty to indicate the locality to anyone who does not inquire from mere motives of curiosity. Many of the houses in this locality are still provided only with the old-fashioned sanitary tins, which in some cases are emptied but once a. month, and the one convenience in several instances is made to suffice for two or more families. I contend that the least our sanitary authorities might do—apart fiorn compelling the property-owners to adopt modern sanitation—is to provide a. weekly or fortnightly service. In the interests of the community our sanitary inspectors should move in the matter, for with the advent of the warm weather the danger to the health of the residents in this locality will be very serious.—l am, etc., Sanitary. August 22.
