MEETINGS AND SOCIALS

A very enjoyable evening v.-;* spent on Monday in All Saints' .Schoolroom, the occasion being the annual social of the Young Men's Bible Claes. Representatives were present from various Anglican parishes. Progressive euchre was the attraction in the eirlier part of the evening, the l;</dies' prize being awarded to Miss A. Harris and the gentleman's to Mr J. Simmends. Songs were contributed by tho Rev. C. R. Allen and Messrs H. Gabitet, L. B. Borrow, and E. A. Borrow. Recita-tions-were given "by Miss M. Muller and Mr V. Thomson. The evening closed with a dance.

At the first business meeting of the financial j-ear of the Young Women's Christian. Association Board, held on Wednesday at the rooTis, the following officers were unanimously elected : —President, Mis H. Wilson; vice-presidents, Mrs G. R. Hercus and Miss Brown ; treasurer, W. H. Duke. Sub-committeee : House—-Mes-dames Hercns, Wilkinson, and Mies Calender; finance—Mesdames Wilkinson, Vanes, Mungo-Wateon, Misjes Brown aad L. Alexander; membership—Mesdanieß Chishclm, W. H. Adams, and T. B. Lov. A vote of thanks was passed to the , ladies in charge of banquet, also to the trustees of the Choral Hall and to the members of the Decorative Glib. Miss Brown, the retiiing president, welcomed the new president and akso new members of committee, and said farewell to Mjs Evans (who is leaving for Sydney) and Mrs White (who is leaving for Auckland). The Y.W.C.A. Haiinga Club held a musical evening last night, when the following programme was given by members and friends: —Monologue, Miss Alexander ; sketch of Beethoven's life and works, .\iioS violin sclcs, Mieo Uick; pianoforte solo, Miss M'Queen; paper, • Music and Morals.' from H. R. Haweis, Miss Alexander; monologue, Miss Muir; recitation, Miss Muir; pianoforte solo, Miss Alexander; monologue, Miss Muir. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the performers.
