In singing and elocution there are slightly over 700 in eaich _ section. There- are 984 entries ■.from outeide. Wellington, and 807 from Wellington. There are 56 entries for th-e 80-fruinea piano. Green Inland (Dunerjin), St. Andrew's (Ohristohurc'h), and Grafton Eoad (Awklar.d) have entered for th© choir competition. NAPIER, October 5. The 29th annual conference of the Baptist Union opened yesterday afternoon, the business being of a formal nature. numberiner 90 were welcomed at ;i public meeting in the evening.
