PENNY BANKS.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, i ;i Z - Nine banks in Yorkshire have subscribed £2,000,000 to enable the Yorkshire Penny Bank to become a company by capital instead of a company by guarantee. A second group of banks, including the Bank of England, will give individual guarantees. This step has been taken owing to anxiety that the suspension of the Birkbeck Bank had adversely affected all penny banks.
