MAORIS v. WAIRARAPA,
[Special to the St.ui.] MASTERTON. August 3. A match will be played at Carterton to-day between a New Zealand Maori football team and Wuirarapa. In the Maori team are Rogers (Rotorua), Kaipara (Poverty Bay), Hyland (Poverty Bay), Piki ('Canterbury), Paratene i Poverty Bay), and Takarangi (Wanganui), who played for the Maori team against Otago at Dunedin last season. In addition, Nnku, formerly of Otago University team, will play five-eighths, and Burnett, of Dunedin, son of Mr W. Barne.it, Mayor of that City, will bo among the forward,;. SOCCER : CHARITY CUP. Tho Otago Wednesday Association Charity Cup match, Southern v. Penrose’s, played” at Culling Park yesterday for charity purposes, attracted a large number of spectators. A hard game resulted in favor of Penrose’s by 4 goals to L For the winners M'Lellau proved a prolific scorer. In tho senior grade contests Southern were the victors, with Penrose as runnersup, and the latter tire naturally elated at so decisively turning the tables in yerterdav's contest.
