DRAINAGE BOARD.

Tho fortnightly meeting of the Drainage Hoard was held last evening, and attended by Messrs J. Arkle (chairman), Jv Small, J. Campbell, T. 11. Christie, J. J. Marlow, W. T. M'Farlano," and Dr" Fulton. The Town Clerk wrote that the "Works Committee had appointed Crs Fiddis, Wilson, Douglas, and Hancock and tho City Engineer to confer with the board's sub-committee in respect to cleaning City mud tanks.—lt was decided that the two committees meet next Tuesdav night. The Town"Clerk, St. Kilda, drew atthe insanitary state of tho Bay View road and Royal crescent ditches. Ho asked what the hoard intended to do with the ditches.—Tho engineer to report. Tho Town Clerk, St. Kilda, wrote thanking the hoard for the offer to lease portion of the land in connection with the pumping station property, but stated that the terms of the lease were not acceptable to tho council.—Tho letter was received, and it was decided that the St. Kilda Council get legal notice of the intention to erect a dividing fence and to pay half cost of any legal put to in preparation of the lease. It was decided that the engineer report to the Works Committee, that body to act in the matter, on the subject of drainage extension in Stuart street from Morav placo to Smith street. In reference to reticulation work in Mornington, the Secretary reported that T. Morris had acceded to' the request of the board for permission to go through his pi-e.pe.rty. There were a number of other property owners from whom permission had not vet been received, and in respect of these it was decided that, failing consent, the customary statutory notice bo served. Three, tenders received for drains-in-common at Preston crescent, Mornington, and four tenders received for electric wiring, switchboards, etc., for continuous pumping plant, were referred to the Works Committee. The board then went into committee to deal with a number of breaches of by-laws in respect of private drainage j work and other matters.
