; THE KING'S THEATRE. The entertainment at. the King's Theatre this week is undoubtedly the best provided since the DowJing street house was reopened, and our country cousins who would like a good hearty laugh should mate a point of seeing the present programme. Delavale and (iilbert, Queen Koko. the Rowes, .Maud Failing, and others will appear again this overling. The following will make their first appearance in Dunedin:— Mauriec Franz {strong man). Willis sisters (grotesqne dancers), and Sam Lo Mert (siffleur and mimic). FULLERS' PICTURES. There was a great house at the Princes? Theatre- last evening. The pictures illustrating the Coronation of King V. were received with enthusiasm, as was to be expected, for the various incidents of the historic event are vividly portrayed. 'The Lyons Mail,' a famous drama, presented by means of the cinematograph, is extremely interesting, and the other films are quite up to standard. The programme will be given again this evening. HAYWARDS' PICTURES. The Burns Hall contained a big audience layt night, who witnessed witll unmistakable delight tlve elaborate programme of moving pictures presented for their -edification. The Coronation picture?, of course, made, the deepest impression, but the bill, taken all round, is one of outstanding merit, and can be recommended without hesitation. The pictures will )>o on view this evening. ROLLER SKATINO. Fancy' costume was the order at- the Masonic Rink last evening. There were ladies who made themselves attractive in harem skirt.--, national pester costumes, and a, dozen other garbs. The men appeared as Lifeguard-smelt. Kaffirs, clowns, eow--1 boys, students, China-men. etc. ttuppor was provided in a. side room, and those tired of rinking revived the attractions of ping-pong. About 50 skaters tool; pari. 'Die rink will be open every afternoon this i week, and on Friday and Saturday evenings. " • HIS 'MAJESTY'S. Charles Reade's novel "It Is Never Too Late To Mend' will bo represented by means, of the- cinematograph at His Majesty's to-night. There will be a number of other pictures, including scenes at tho Coronation of King Ceorge V. ARCADLV PICTURE PALACE. There was a complete change of pictures at Cargill's Comer last and an enjoyable programme was screened. The pictures are very clear and steady, and nearly all received their share of applause. There were four dramatic subjects—i" Tangle of Fates,' "Fatal Love,' '.The I Miner's Child,' and 'The Nine of Diamonds.' The last named is a beautiful j picture, a.nd held the audience in brcathi less silence. (If the other subjects, special mention may he made of a. beauti-fully-colored film of Syracuse, which not only j>oiirays the wonderful and ancient ruins, but is a triumph in cinematographicart, this picture alone being worth a. long journey to see. The programme is also rich in mirth-providers, and includes no | less, than seven comic pictures, most of which are exceedingly funny. The sane series will be screened again to-night, and to-morrow children will be admitted ■to all parts for ijid. CAPFINC CARNIVAL. The capping carnival, that bios! popular of Dunedin's annual entertainments, will be held this year in His Majesty':-. Theatre on August. 10 and 11. The programme, it. is said, promises to exceed in originality and cleverness all previous efforts of the students, and the local hits will bo a more than usually strong feature- The chorus has been curtailed to manageable dimensions. Trios and quartet? will again be much in evidence, and (be was works promise to he quite up to the usual laughable, standard. The hoy. plan vviil be o.j>e.n at tho Dresden for members of the professorial, lecturing, and Hospital staffs (limited to two tickets each) on August 4 and 5, and for the general public on August 7, 8, and 9.
