It is nio.-i astonishing that such a condition of affairs is allowed to exist. 1 understand that ulie local Council cannot do anything witii the drain, as it is under the jurisdiction of the Drainage Board, who evidently think that ail it needs is to send a couple of mm about once every three mouths io tlnuw the tilth out on to the bank to feed llio ilies. if an epidemic of typhoid or diphtheria were to break out near this .-.pot, the health authorities would wake up, and say: "All, it must be caused by that drain!"
