THE EMPEROR'S THANKS. Pross Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, VIENNA, December 4. (Received December 5, at 8.5 a.m.) The Emperor Franz Josef bestowed on Captain Matthews, if the Lowther Grange, which picked up and saved the Austrian steamer Trieste, 400 miles from Aden, en June 16 last, a gold watch having the Imperial initials set in diamonds, and on Captain Andrews, of the tug Dievan, a pair of binoculars adorned with the Emperor's signature. The Lowther Grange's first officer and six seamen received monetary awards, and the widow of the engineer, who lost his life, 10,000 kroner (about £400). Admiral Slade and the Governor of Aden were also specially, thanked.
