FIRES

WELLINGTON, November 26.
A four-roomed, unoccupied house in Hay street, Oriental Bay, owned by Gavin Colvin, and insured in the Alliance. Office for £IOO, was galled by fire this morning. The adjoining house of five rooms, owned by W. H. Ward and occupied by Jojm Orr, was slightly damaged. H was insured in the South British ior £2OO. Slight damage was, also done to Gavin Colvin’s seven-roomed residence, insured in the Alliance for £3CO.
A little later on the brigade were called out to suppress an outbreak in H, ,T. Archer’s drapery store in I pper Cuba street. The flames were suppressed after some dameg had been done to tho building and stock. The fire originated amonast the goods on the first floor. Ten davs ago considerable damage was done to Archers clock on premises further up the street-, and the building also suffered severely. The slock on the temporary premises was not insured. The building, owned bv 1). Diedrich, was only slightly damaged.
