The ehipment of produce from the South to the North is regular and constant, but it is not often that Australia is drawn on for supplies, A few weeks ago a Bailing vessel loaded produce at Melbourne for Auckland, and now the steamer Waipori, which is to take a cargo of timber from, Kaipara to Melbourne, will Toturn with produce to Auckland. Morayshire, s-s-, from Liverpool via ports, left Lyttelton at 8.15 this morning for Dunedin. She will come up to the Victoria wharf with to-morrow morning's tide. Taviuni, 5.6., due here about the end of the week from the West Coast via the Bluff, will proceed to Westport after discharge and load coal for Vila on account of the Admiralty. Australian Transport, s.s., which has been chartered by the A. and A. Line, left New York on Friday, October 28, for Melbourne, Sydney, and New Zealand ports. She is due* at Dunedin about tho beginning of February. H.M-S. Pioneer is to leave on Friday for the Sooth. Waitemata, fjf., left Singapore yesterday for Calcutta, where she is due at the end of the week. Koromfko, S.S., proceeded this morning to Port Chalmers to discharge coal, and in the afternoon sailed for Lyttelton and Westport. Pukaki, s.s., which was loading at Westport to-day for Timaru, Oamaru, and Dunedin, win take up the Flora's timetable ran, next week. Komata, s.s., is to load timber at Greymonfh for Melbourne,and Adelaide, Westralia, s.s., which is taking the placo of the Victoria in the Sydney-Dunedin' run via the East Coast, berthed at the tongue -wharf at 3 p-m. yesterday. She sails at 4 p.m. to-morrow on the Tetum trip. The overhaul of the Victoria will take several weeks. She is to resume running on November 23. Captain CM'Lean joined the Rakanoa to-day, relieving Captain King, who transferred to the Koromiko, Captain Crisp having come ashore owing to illness in his family. Mr A. R. Stewart, late of the Squall, has been appointed chief officer of the Koromiko. Mr J. Thompson has come ashore to sit for his extra-roaster's certificate. NEW EAST AFRICAN SERVICE. Despite rumors of rate wars with the Germans and other inconvenient possibilities, tho Union Castle Company's East African service by way of the Snez Canal has been successfully inaugurated with the departure of the Guelph, says a Home paper. The promises of success are first rate, and no obstacles are apparent to this legitimate development of the UnionCastle Company's business. The Guelph win be followed by other ships of the G class at intervals of a month, and in conjunction with the vessels working the other coast they will maintain an allBritish service right round Africa.
