In the Rhine and Moselle districts there will bo no vintage at all for champagne. Sauinur, Burgundy, or Chablis, and no brandy. There will be one-third of the usual vintage of Medoc. half a crop in Italy, and half to three-quarters in Spain. Australian supplies have been decreased by the duty on spirits, causing growers to distil'an increasing proportion of brandy for local consumption. Holders are, however, more inclined to sell than they were seme time back, and a few storage lines haw changed hands. There, has been a good inquiry all round, but as soon as a few thousand bags are put on the market it is expected that prices will again como bark, as the new season is fast approaching. It would not be surprising to seo a fairly large surplus carried forward. To-day's quotations were: A grade Cartons, Is 9d, 0.t., cjs. ; A grade epartowl)Lllb, Is o.t., c.s. ; B grade, less. Ryegrass.—There is a fair demand for rood heavy seed from the mill, and up to 2s 6:1 0.t., c.s., is being paid. Ch-xff.—Good prime chaff is in good demand, but as farmers aro busy at other work there is very little, on offer. Prime lines are worth from £3 7s 6d to £3 10s. 0.t., c.s. Potatoes.—There is practically nothing doing in ]K>tatoes in Southland at present, ;:s there aro practically none left.
