A long passage of ninety-one days was made by the Earl of Carriok from New York to Auckland, where she arrived on Sunday. A heavy south-west gale and high seas were encountered between Newcastle and Auckland, but durum the rest of the voyage the weather was fine. The Earl of Garrick has 140,000 cases of oil for the four ports. The steamer Vermont, which left New Y'ork three weeks after the Earl of Garrick, arrived at Auckland yesterday, having done the trip in seventyone days. She also is loaded with oil for the four New Zealand ports. Six or seven Norwegian sailors belonging to the barque Glenshee have left the vessel at Wellington, and the captain is now out with an offer of £5 or £6 a head for men to join the vessel for the run to Dunedin. The Glenshee was expected to haul out into the stream on Tuesday evening. Opawa, New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer, is to go on the lay-up berth at Port after she has completed discharge of inward cargo in the North. Hauroto, s.s., from Auckland, did not berth at the Cross wharf until 9.45 this morning. A strong current setting in northwards delayed her progress after leaving Lyttelton. She sails at 4 p.m. tomorrow on the retnm voyage. Corinna, is due late to-night from Onehnnga via ports. She sails on Sunday on the return trip, omitting the call at Nelson. Taviuni, s.s., will not be here till about the end of next week from the West Coast via the Blnff. Present indications are that fully the usual quantity of Gisborne wool will be available for shipment in time to catch the January sales in London. Beveu thousand bales are expected to be lifted by the steamers Kia Ora. Jndrabarah, and Kaikoura, which call there within the next fortnight, and in addition the Clan Ross is to pick up a substantial consignment. HARBOR DUES ACCORDING TO DRAUGHT. The Special Committee of the Southampton Harbor Board, who have had under consideration tho question of differential dues, recommend tliat parliamentary powers bo obtained to charge vessels on registered tonnage and draught of water instead of registered tonnage only; that no extra charge be made on vessels drawing 30ft or lets water, and that all vessels drawing over 30ft shall be charged, in addition to the authorised rates, /d per net registered ton for every foot or fraction thereof over 30ft draught.
