THE CITY MISSION
— The monthly committee meeting of the Dunedin City Mission was held yesterday, Mr J. A. D. Adams presiding. There were also present Messrs J. Barnes, E. Itosevenr, W. E. Sessions, J. Blair, T. L. Clark, and D. Wright. The Hon. Treasurer reported the following donations, etc.Widow Lady £l, Business Firm £2 2s, Friends of the Mission £6, Lady Helper £l, Widow 10s, Albany Street Service 15a sd, Attendance Cords 5s Bd. Poor Fund ■ Lady £l. The follow!-•; letters were read and received: F’ i the Secretary; of the Northeast Valley School, expressing the earnest desire of the Committee that the Bible-read-ing class should bo continued, as usual, next year, add also expressing a lively appreciation of and gratitude for the work in the past among the children of the school and district. From a widow who had received, through the efforts of Mr Wright, substantial help for herself and children. And from a lady teacher who had received advice and help in connection with a class for Biblereading lessons in the country. Deep regret was expressed at the absence of Mr George Reid through illness. Tfaa Missionary’s monthly memo, gave particulars of an interesting character Concerning the substantial evidences he is constantly receiving from outside sources of sympathy and encouragement, as well as the hearty eo-operation of a large number of men and women and young people in the (state school classes, the Sunday evening service in Albany Street School, branches of mission work. According to custom, the ' classes will be toncluded for this year as underNorlh•ast Valley School, November It; Ealkorai, 15: Albany Street 16; Maori Hill, 17; Arihur Street, 18. No fewer than 1,000 cards, ipemal cards, and 150 marked New Testaments will be distributed. In all cases school committeemen and parents will be made welcome. The Pelichet Bay Band of Hope, conducted by many experienced workers, under the auspices of the City Mission, continues to be aggressive and prosperous.
