MEETINGS AND SOCIALS

ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE. This brigade met on Thursday evening. The superintendent (.Mr John Wood) neem plod the chair. There were upwards of thirty members present. Twenty-seven Irst aid or transport, cases were reported. Arrangements re classes, for Drainage Board and tramway .employees, were made. The routine business being disposed of, the superintendent called on Mr . North to deliver an address on ‘Fits and Poisons.’ This address, which occupied over an hour and a-half, was listened to with keen interest, and on its conclusion the superintendent tendered Mr North the thanks of the brigade for bis able and instructive lecture. ENTERTAINMENT AT SOUTH DUNEDIN. A largo audience assembled last evening in the Town Hall, South Dunedin, where a concert was held, with the object of providing funds to furnish a stall at the forthcoming bazaar for St. Dominic’s Priory. The programme, which was an excellent one. and which met with the hearty appreciation of those present, consisted of songs by Misses V. Fraser, A. Heffernan, C. Kerr, Messrs G. Graham, E. J. Mce, H. Popplewell, vocal duet by Misses V. Fraser and G. Kerr, pianoforte solo by Miss D. Miller, monologues by Miss M. Carey Wallace and Mr J. H. Brennan, humorous songs by Mr H. Michelle, recitation by Mr H. Russell, and an exhibition of legerdemain by Mr V. S. Raymonde. The accompanists were Misses M. Carey Wallace and D. Miller and Mr A. Pacey. Mr 0. A. Shiel moved a vote of thanks to the performers, and the concert was followed by a dance, for which the music was supplied' by Messrs Sullivan and Poole.

LODGE SOCIAL.

A most enjoyable social, promoted by tho members of Court Excelsior, A.0.F., was held in the Temperance Hall, Mornington, last evening. Messrs P. Corke, IT. Gibson, and D. Kirkness contributed vocal items, whilst the Misses Lemon danced the Highland fling. Mr W. Noster’s services at tho piano were greatly appreciated, and contributed largely towards the success of the function. Bro. J. S. Anderson capably officiated as M.C.
