CITY POLICE COURT. (Before. J. R. Bartholomew, Esq., S.M.) Drunkenness. —A first offender was iined 5s or twenty-four hours. Three other first offenders, who did not appear, forfeited their bail by being iined 10s each.—Jienry Miles was fined ss, and ordered to pay 2s cab hire, in default twenty-four . hours.— Jamas Sillett was fined ss-or twenty-four hours. Procuring Liquor.—George Davidson (who did not appear) was charged with procuring liquor during the currency of an order against Mm. —From the evidence of Sergeant Ecdes and the barmaid of the Prince of Wales Hotel, it appears that the accused went into the bar of the hotel and procured a. glass of beer. —A fine of 10s and costs was imposed. Breach of Railway ByJaws.—William Carter, an "expressman, for whom Mr D. D. Macdonald appeared, was charged with going upon the railway platform and plying for hire, contrary to the railway bylaws. —After hearing a number of witnesses the magistrate dismissed the case.
