Y.M.C.A. About tiiiity men were present at the strangers’ tea in the Young Aden’s Christian Association rooms yesterday afternoon. Air Hugh Alillcr, who recently returned to Dunedin after a long absence, sang a solo and spoke of his various experiences in evangelistic work. At tho close of the meeting the members bade farewell to Alessrs C. Bradfield and John Tyson, two prominent workers in connection with various departments of tho Association, who are leaving Dunedin. CHURCH OF CHRIST. In tho course of Mr W. J. llnatie’s sermon at the Tabernacle last evening, he set forth two main things which should ho kept in mind in relation to tho purpose of the Word of God. The first of these was ! that the Scriptures are able to make us | wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus, and the se'cond that the man lot God who has been made wise unto salvation may be furnished completely unto every good work. His remarks wore based upon Romans xiv., and he dealt largely with matters that might bo termed non-essntials and on which the utmost liberty of thought and action is permitted. Speaking of some !of the essential facts that God has revealed in Ilis Word, the speaker made reference to several of Paul’s statements in regard to these, and concluded by directing attention to John v., 13.
