UNSPENT VOTES
MONEY ASKED FOR BY THE WOMEN'S HEALTH SOCIETY. This morning tho Society for Promoting iho Health of Women and Children met the Hon. J. P.. Cailan and Messrs Arnold, Allen, Sidey, and Thomson, M.P.s, and asked I hose "members to ad vice and help in a money dilliculty. The position is ar> follows:—No money his heeu paid to the society by the Government for the 1907-08 year.' The sum of .CSCO was plaoed on the Estimates for tnat year, and, though repeatedly applied for, was not paid, wherefore the vote has lapsed. Then, during the last cession £BOO was voted to be divided amongst th". various branches of the society, and £SOO for the Karitano Home. This £SCO has not been i.aid, and of tho £BOO the sum of £2OO is* rot paid. After hearing the statements, the n>embers present received to send the. Mluwii.g telegram to tho Prime Minister and the Minister for Internal Affairs:--" We would urge you to pay tho £SOO for Iv.iritanc Home' I«fore the 31st, March, as society fear vote lapsing ami money being lost to them, a.s in 1907. Wo ako urge that the £2OO not yet allocated to brandies be allocated a.s suggested in society's letter, 31st January last, to Minister Public Health. We hope this will relievo the disappointment at lapsed vote previously referred to. - '
