Tho monthly meeting of St. Matthew's branch of iho Church of England Men's Society was held on Thursday evening. Before iho meeting somo of the membeis met to clean up the church grounds. 'I lie meeting commenced with the. C.E.M.S. form of i-ervicc, following which tho 10ports of tho various committees were read. Tho Seamen's Visiting Committee have visited tivo boats during last month, and men from ?omo of these have, been brought to church in consequence. A very successful ?oeial was held by this Committee for the crew o! the barijuo John Lockett, and was much appreciated by the men. The Committee are very grateful to members of tho congregation" or C.K.M.S. who have so liberally supported them with subscriptions, magazines, etc. The Bible class has had good meetings during the month, and iho prayer meetings held after the class have be'en very helpful. The Visiting Committee have called on various people, and are making arrangements to tako part in the Sunday school census in April. The Door Committee have carried out their duties faithfully, and several testimonials as to usefulness were given by other members. Cards have been printed on which to obtain the names of newcoiners to tho church. Tho Repairs Committee have- erected bookshelves at the vicarage, .uid repaired some electric light fittings at tho church. Alter a discussion on general matters an address w;is given by the vicar (Canon Cur/on-Siggers) on ' l'ho Founding of Christianity in Britain by Joseph of Ariinuthca,' .vhicii proved, very interesting.
