A CAUSE CELEBRE

On Jannary 2, 1908, M. Paul Rov, a Frenchman, the son of a horse dealer at Neuilly, quarrelled at their country place m America with his wife, formerly Miss Gratia Calla Corkii/s, because he considered her hat was too large. His brother-in-law, Mr George Corkins. interfered. Both men dretv revolvers and fired, and George Corkins fell de'ad. A year ago—that is to say, several months after the affray—M. Paul Roy was indicted in France on the charge of wilful murder. The case was placed, in the hands of a. French examining magistrate, who collated all the evidence available, which was riot much. He endeavored to induce.the sister of the dead man herself to cross tht Atlantic to give evidence, but in vain. Under these circumstances the magistrate recently decided that no bill is to be found against M. Paul Roy, who is cleared of the charge brought against him.
