To bring to a dose a roost successful season, and to add to their funds, the Mornington Ladies’ Hockey Club provided entertainment and much amusement to a good number of people on their grounds in Ugin road on Saturday afternoon bv way of a fancy-dress match against a gentlemens team. The day was too warm for hockey, a«nd for that reason the game was rather slow, and therefore much, more amusing, the costumes of the gentlemen causing the greatest of fun. Tile lady players wore maids’ attire, including the white cap and apron, and the six men taking part wore dressed in fancy costumes and skirts. The ladies put in most of the work at first, the men finding their female attire awkward, U> say the least. The men, however, won finally by 4 goals to 2, Misses M. Lees and D. Mason scoring for the losers and Messrs S. Wright (2), A. Glasse, and C. Penman for the gentlemen. Miss May Robb prevented the winners from scoring a member of goals, saving in goal repeatedly and well. Mr Martin refereed in his usual capable style. Members of the Ladies’ Hockey Club handed round tea at the interval. BOXING. The preliminary rounds of the Otago Boxing Association's boxing and wrestling tournament will be held to-night in His Majesty’s Theatre.
