CRICKET ASSOCIATION

A meeting of tho Otago Cricket Association was held last evening, Mr J. J. Clark presiding. —Correspondence.— The Secretary of the Mornington Club wrote stating that the club intended to enter one second, ono third, paid one fourth grade team.—Received. In reply to a letter from the New Zealand Cricket Council, it was agreed that Messrs Thompson and Austin be appointed the Association’s delegates to the Council. The Secretary of the Christian Brothers’ Club wrote stating that they had appointed Piev. Bro. Brady as their delegate to the Association. —Season Opens October 25. Tho Secretary of the Carisbrook Club wrote saying that in view of the opening of tho season on Saturday, the 16th, he had been requested to state that they had bean unable to get any practice wickets on their ground, and asking that their position bo considered.—Agreed that opening of the season bo postponed one week, all matches to start on October 25. —Coaching.— It being reported that Wordsworth had been engaged as coach for a period of eighteen weeks, dating from October 26, Messrs Wilson, Hope, and Ritchie were appointed a committee to formulate a scheme of coaching and report to a future meeting. The Chairman said he thought that tho coaching should bo confined to one or two grounds, and that the coach should not have to go from place to place. —General.— The following were elected a grade committee:—Messrs Ritchie, Wychcrlv, and Kugour. On the motion of Mr Hope it was resolved that the secretary be instructed to write to Mr W. Maclean expressing the Association’s appreciation of his many years valuable services to the cause of encxet in Dunedin.
