WELLINGTON, October 7. At Foxton Loo J’oranoff, a Russian who has been lecturing ns a Siberian exile, was sentenced to six weeks on a charge of obtaining money from a Maori on false pretences.
GISBORNE, October 7. Charles Hcggard nlip„s Clifford was charged in the Police Court this morning with assaulting John Mullins, a fellowworker on the railway works, and robbing him of £76. The accused was remanded.
INGLEWOOD. October 7. The Tariki Hotel, of twentv-five rooms, & two-storey bnilding, was' totally destroyed by fire at 2.36 this morning.
WHANGARKI. October 7. In reply to the Chamber of Commerce resolution in favor of the eastern route tor the Northern Inink line, toe Minister Of Public Works States that the Government have definitely decided to adhere to the western route.
