TENNIS TOURNAMENT.

The Otago Lawn Tennis Association concluded their annual tournament on the ilaituna .courts,this afternoon, when the final matches of several competitions were played. The schools championships began about one o’clock. The weather was agreeable at the beginning of plav, but sulked 1 6 rain a little after two o’clock, and play was stopped for a while, liesuits : ’• . . BOYS’HANDICAP SINGLES. —Final.— G. Black, High School (scratch) beat L. J. Ivory, High School (owe 4), 40—32. The contestants were fairly well matched. M ost of the play was on the back line, and there were many long rallies, some lasting for twenty strokes. Black was consistent in his play, and managed to beat Ivory, who took some time to pay what he owed. BOYS’ HANDICAP DOUBLES. —Final.— T. G. Young and M. J. White (owe 10) beat L. J. Ivory and G. I. Mondy (scratch), 40—28. Play upon the whole was rather poor. Voung and White were rather long iti making jp their handicap, but once they were rid of the odds they secured a substantial lead, and kept it to the end. GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES. —-Final. ' Miss Gr. Stoneham (High School) beat Miss D. Atmor© (High School), &—6. Miss Stoneham began, well, and four games to love. After that Mis Atmore brightened up, and won game for game. The rallies were long and stubbornly contested,' and in the heat a bit trying on the players. Miss Stoneham, with the consistency that goes far in all things, remained, a winner to the end. The game was pleasant and neat. ■
