FREETRADE WITH PHILIPPINES. BRITISH TRADE AFFECTED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, April 16. (Received April 17, at 8.30 a.m.) ■ Mr Taft, in a message to Congress, supports the Bill establishing, with certain limitations, Freetrade between the United States and the Philippines. The British community at Manila urge the Imperial Government to remonstrate strongly, owing to the injury the departure will inflict on British trade.
