YACHTS AND MOTOR BOATS
OPENING OP THE SEASON. The Otago Yachting and Motor Boat Club formally opened the season this afternoon. Notwithstanding the too cool weather, there was a good attendance, including many ladies, at the club's ground, near the Cement Works. About twenty yachts and as many motor boats, including representative craft from Ravensbourne and Port Chalmers Sailing Clubs, took part in the procession from the wharf to the club's shed. Many of the yachts wore decorated with bunting. Commodore Hanlon, in the motor launch Doreen led the procession of motor boats, whilst Vice-’ commodore Moller, in fho yacht Waimana, led the yachts. The Citizens’ Band, under the direction of Bandmaster Cook, were in attendance, and played several selections. Many of the motor launches were placed at the service of passengers from the wharves to the shed. A little after three the season ■was declared open by Commodore Hanlon. The secretary (Mr M’Keegan) and the members of the Committee watched after the interests of visitors, who were supplied with tea and refreshments.
