Aristocrat took charge at the distance, and won by a length and a-half. Tune, Imin 42|sec. Great Northern Guineas, 500 sovs. lm. —Mr E. J, Watt’s Aborigine (by Merriwee —lndian Qneen), 8.7, 1; Santa Rosa 2, Waimangu *3. Scratched: Wimmera and Kimlock. Aborigine went to the front when two furlongs were covered, and was not afterwards headed, winning easily by two lengths. Time, Imin 40scc. Welcome Stakes, 260 sovs. sf.—Salute 1, Kakama 2, St. Amans 3. Scratched: Monsieur Sonlt. Salute was in front all the way. Won by half a length. Time, Imm 2£sec. LAWN TENNIS. Tennis players are reminded that the interprovinoia! match Otago v. Canterbury will be played in the Otago Court on Monday, commencing at 1.30 p.m. To see the beet players in the two provinces playing on the same courts is a chance that certainly should not be missed. It is many years since such a combination has been eesn in Dunedin. Those who are anxious to improve their tennis could not do better than be spectators on Monday. The Canterbury team will be the guests of the Otago Association at ‘ The Mikado ’ in the evening, and the Association would like to eoe as many tennis players present as can make it convenient. A portion of the circle has boon marked off for their benefit, and can be booked at Jacobs’s till 1 p.m. on Monday. TAIERI RACES. This meeting takes place on Monday. If the weather bo fine there is sure to be a large attendance of sportsmen and picnickers, for the journey is pleasant and inexpensive, and the club offer good racing. LIVERPOOL CUP. A London cablegram states that the Liverpool Autufim Cup, lm sf, was won by Mr G. Edwardcs’s Santeve (by Santoi —Wedding Eve), the filly that ran third in the Oaks. Crathome was second and Lischana third.
