LONDON, August 14. (Received August 15, at 825 a m.) The Local Government Board have issued a return showing that during the year ended March 31 90,057 persons applied" for relief under the Unemployed Workmen Act, of whom 32,624 were in London and 57,435 in the provinces. This is 3.000 more than in the previous year. The increase is largely in London, and the chief depression was in the engineering, shipbuilding, iron, steel, and metal trades.
