HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

An ordinary meeting of the Dunedin Hospital Trustees was held after we went to press yesterday afternoon. Mr P. Miller presided, and there were also present Messrs J. Mill, W. Wills, S. Solomon, A. Tapper, and Dr Riley. Mr Peter Miller was unanimously reelected chairman for the ensuing year. —Finance. — The Finance Committee reported that the receipts for November were £287 4s 7d, and for the present month up to date £264 16s sd. The pass book showed a credit balance of £1,214 19s 9d. and the building account a credit balance of £666 13s 4d.—Adopted. —Donations. — Mr TI. Williams domi'.ed some pictures to the hospital as a token of his appreciation of the kind treatment he had received while a patient.—Received with thanks. Gilbert 15. The" deputation also asked for the appointment of a second junior house surgesn. Dr Barnett pointed out how inconvenient the present arrangement was, and how desirable it was that such an appointment should be made. —Consideration was deferred in the meantime. The Under-Secretary for Public Works wrote stating that he had written two letters to the Trustees in reference to the Government Architect's expenses when attending Dnnedin in connection with the heating of the new hospital wing, and that, as he bad had no reply, he had asked the Secretary of the Treasury to deduct the amount due (£7 10s) from the next subsidy.—ln the same connection the Paymaster-General wrote stating that this amount had been deducted from the subsidy of £l6 2s lOd on building subscriptions, and that only £8 12s lOd had been paid on that subsidy.—Tha course adopted was approved. Dr Barnett wrote enclosing a letter from one of his hospital patients (Mr A. Jack, of Balclutha), who sent a donation of £lO, which he desired the doctor to use as he thought best. Dr Barnett urged that the money and the subsidy that it will carry be used, for the purchase of certain appliances urgently needed for the operating theatre. —The donation was accepted with thanks, the money to be cs-

pended in tho manner suggested by Dr Bainett. Di T. GUr'ay .wrote asking to be reliovet' of his duties as junior house surgeon, as ho had received appointment as junior at Wellington Hospital.—Tho matter was left to tho chairman to deal with. Mr A. A. Morgan wrote asking for information, for legal purposes, concerning the daath of one Joseph or Henry Pugh, supposed to havo died in the institution thirty-five or forty years ago.—Referred to tho secretary to supply particulars, i£ available. Messrs Mason and Wales wrote enclosing progress certificate for £434 for the new building, and stating that the work was progressing satisfactorily. Tho contractor had all the girders in position and part of the first floor laid down in concrete.—Received, and progress payment approved. —Medical Staff Appointments.— The following appointments to tho medical staff were made for the ensuing year : —Surgeons, Dr Bamett, Dr Closs, and Dr Stanley Batchelor; physicians, Dr Colquhoun, Dr W. M. Macdonald, and Dr Fitchctt ; gynecologist. Dr F. C. Batcheior; ophthalmic surgeon, Dr Lindo Fei guson; pathologist, Dr Roberts; amesthctat, Dr Ritchie ; assistant physician, Dr Williams; assistant gynecologist, Dr; Hilcv: assistant ophthalmic surgeon Dr O'Neill.
