.*—_^. NEW PLYMOUTH, In the case of Carl Sohipker, a young Swiss, charged with the murder of H. Rollins, also a Swiss, at Kaponga, in July last, the jury found a true bill on the reduced count of manslaughter. The defence was that the blow wag struck in Belfr defence, evidence being Jed that deceased had on several occasions threatened prisoner, jealousy over a girl being the cause. His Honor's summing up was favorable. The jury, after a short retirement; returned a verdict of "Not guilty, ,? and Schicker was .discharged. NAPIER. Rauwaka Hera, a Maori youth, pleaded guilty to housebreaking, and was senr tenced to six months. Areta Manghi, a native, pleaded guilty to indecent assault, and was remanded for sentence. Arthur David Annesley was found guilty of obtaining money under false pretences, and was remanded for sentence. Heta Hakawai pleaded guilty to having stolen a bank note, and was admitted to probation for twelve months. A verdict of "Not guilty" was found in the case of Edward Russell, charged with horse-steal-ing. '
