Theft. —Frederick Jenkins was charv«ed with drunkenness, and also wjtli stealing a gladstone bag and contents valued afc 15s, the property of John Burns.—Accused pleaded guilty to the first charge, and was fined ss, or twenty-four hours' imprisonment.—On the application of Sub-inspector Black, accused was remanded until tomorrow on the second charge. Disobeying on Order.—William Roland Porteous was charged with disobeying an order of the Court at Wellington for the maintenance of hie wife and children.—On the application of Mr Irwin, who appeared for the defendant, a further remand was granted for a week, the same bail ss before being allowed. Stealing Boots.—John Anderson alias Henderson was charged with, stealing a pair of boots, valued at 15s, the property of Francis Thorn.—Ohief-detective Herbert said that the boots were stolen from Mr Thorn's shop in George street, and subsequently pawned by accused for 6s.—Evidence was given by the complainant, Mark Jacobs, and Detective Hunt.—Accused, who had several previous convictions against him, was sent to gaol for three months. Maintenance.—Charles Henry applied to have the arrears of a maintenance order cancelled, and the order reduced to 5s a week in respect to his sister, and cancelled so far as it related to his brother.—Mr W. D. Stewart appeared in support of the application, and Mr Hay to oppose.—His Worship said that he would not cancel the arrears, but would order them to stand over in the meantime. He would cancel the order'in respect to the brother, but the amount for the maintenance of the sister would remain as at present—namely, 7e 6d a week.
