ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
Despite the dampness of Saturday the soccer fixture between Sargood's and Bing, Harris's -was played off. The teams were largely composed of ""has-beens" and "are to be's," and the hazy notions of the latter, combined wifch the state of tho field, provided boundless amusement for the noble band of spectators who braved the elements to " barrack " for their respective " houses." Among Bing, Harris's representatives was a Scotch international, while the opposing team could also boast a weighty Scotch champion- Although bv far the lighter team, B.H. and Co. took command from tlve jump, and romped home the easiest of winners by seven goahs to two, tho scorers being Wadie, Paterson, Allen, and Peters (4). One of Sargood's goals was secured by Shaw, wliile Campbell (on the opposing side), who was playing a heady game, generously gave them the second. Shrimpton, Wright, and Alcock were Sargood's mainstays, while CWell, North, and Langford worked like Trojans for_ tite winners. Mr Benton gav« every satisfaction with the whistle.
