The Cape Town correspondentof the' Daily Telegraph' says it is understood that the destination of the steamer Xema, which has been chartered by a London syndicate to proceed to an unnamed island off the coast of Africa in search of diamonds, is Mercury Island, which lies to the north of Angra Pequena Bay, [Much interest is centred in the expedition of the 6tepmer Xema, which is- sailing-for an undisclosed island off the coast of Africa to search for diamonds. The syndicate which has promoted the venture is equipping the expedition thoroughly. The Xema is of 1,113 tons. She has a crew of forty-five, largely naval reserve men. Gas engines, mining implements, and a complete washing plant have been shipped at Cardiff, and a large staff of engineers has been sent out with the party. It is expected that the voyage of the Xema will last six months.]
