IRISH HOME RULE
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. A FRENCH VIEW. PARIS, August 22. The 'Temps' considers that Sir Antouy Macdonnell's recent sibylline announcement is an official indication of a great step forward in the direction of autonomy for Ireland. It is anticipated that Mr Bryco (Secretary for Ireland) will propose administrative Home Rule, particularly as regards the control of finance. Whenever, according to this scheme, local government and the management of the finances are placed in the hands of Irishmen, the clamorous demand for the National Parliament will have lost much of its dramatic necessity.; The 'Temps' concludes by saying that perhaps Mr Redmond's party will uncompromisingly oppose Mr Bryoe's generous propoaal owing to its very generosity and the beneficial effect it \a sure to. produce in a country where British administration has been the cause of most of. the evils afflictirig.-it. If so," the Nationalists, will deprive themselves of every foundation for their fighting attitude at Westminster, and will deserve the stigma of being only politicians, "caring more for parliamentary positions than for the interests of the country.'. •.,-■-■■;
