AN ADMIRABLE LIQUEUR WHISKY.

Tne chief desiderata of a really good whisky are maturity, purity, and flavor. When a spirit can be obtained combining all these properties the search need be carried no further. In our opinion such a whisky is available in the spirit sent out by Messrs A. and B. Mackay, Ltd., of 48 Renfield street, Glasgow. This house, which has about half a century's record behind it, sends out a superb Liqueur Whisky which has rightly enough been described as an inspiration suggested by Liqueur Brandy, to which, however, it is infinitely superior. To try those who have been alarmed by the revelations in the test whisky case we may mention that Mackay's Liqueur Whisky is absolutely pure, is perfectly blended—the proper blending of whisky is. almost a fine art—and thoroughly matured, not by deleterious patent processes, as with so many blends, but by the only real maturer— Time. As it was the pioneer, so it is the finest Liqueur Whisky on the market. Careful tests show that in the first place its maturity is assured; next it is of the highest quality and undoubted purity. Finally, the flavor is wonderfully good, soft, and insinuating, mellow, and of a fine bouquet. The man who could sample this whisky and remain unsatisfied must indeed be exigeant. The Mackay spirit well deserves the old Celtic name of whisky—viz., " Uisge-Beatha," the Water of Life. When the history of Commerce comes to be written the records of the Glenfalloch Highland Whisky of Messrs Mackay will form not the least interesting chapter. We have no hesitation in recommending this superb brand to those of our readers who desire really reliable Scotch whisky of tho best class. In view of the large number of brands of immature spirit on the market we may point out that in any whisky not properly matured the deleterious properties are still active and highly injurious to the user. The Liqueur Whisky sent forth by Messrs Mackay is, we assert with confidence, an absolutely pure and fine blend of guaranteed mature spirit; and we think that if this brand be placed on any club table where hitherto the ordinary brands of whisky have appeared the superiority of this remarkable spirit will be at once apparent. We believe that a sample case can be obtained by any club or mess caterer from Messrs Mackay's offices at Glasgow. There is an old proverb that the proof of the pudding is in the eatm*, which we may paraphrase by saying that the proof of the whisky is in the drinking. The Mackay Liqueur Whisky will stand that proof. Messrs Mackay have unimpeachable witnesses to the quality of their whisky in the shape of +bo prize medal of the Calcutta Exhibition of 18834, and the gold medal of the Jamaica Exhibition of 1891. Those who, in view of the statements made in court, ask in bewilderment "What is whisky?" will find an answer by testing Messrs Mackay's grand Liqueur Whisky.
